Generally, the first player to make a bet is considered the bettor. If no one makes a bet, players can bet a single card from their hand or all of their cards.

The best possible hand in poker is a straight or a flush. The best possible hand may be an ace-queen high or an ace-queen high. If two or more players have a straight, the ties are broken by a re-deal.

In most poker games, a player must make a minimum bet. This is referred to as the ante. This is usually a small amount, such as $1 or $5. The ante is the “buy in” to play the round.
