Slot is a game that features spinning reels, symbols and a random number generator. The game has been around for over a century and continues to be popular, even though it has evolved considerably since its inception. Modern slots are designed to follow specific themes and can feature symbols, general design, in-game messages and jackpots. They are often accessible via mobile devices as well, and can be played online.

The word ‘slot’ is also used in the scheduling (calendar) sense to refer to a particular time period or position in a group, series or sequence. For example, you may book a haircut for the 2pm slot.

The slot> tag is used in the AngularJS framework to define named slots, which are rendered only if the child component has that particular slot. This is particularly useful when you need to render something based on the state of the child, but have no access to the parent. The slot> tag also has a shorthand, #, so template v-slot:header> can be written as template v-slot. The slot> tag also supports the v-if attribute, which is used to create conditional statements that can be evaluated within a scope.
